healing moment: new breath prayers from Sarah Bessey
Friends,
I have shared breath prayers from
before and I’m sharing them again and I’ll share them as long as she writes them. Right now, they show up when my life feels like it is moving so quickly — as they are wont to do. In this moment, these prayers call me to slow down, even though slowing down feels impossible. Which is exactly why I need to follow their call.First, please read the whole article. She explains her spirituality around these prayers so beautifully, especially as she gives insight into how to practice this way of prayer. Then, she offers new breath prayers you can hold close to your heart and soul.
The breath prayers that are speaking to me from this new batch are:
Inhale: Give me an imagination for healing,
Exhale: You are the Creator and Sustainer of our restoration.Inhale: I release my worry and what-ifs,
Exhale: and I welcome Your prevailing peace and holy possibilities.Inhale: I release my need for control,
Exhale: I trust Your goodness and purpose will prevail.
Again: Please read her post, linked below and above, because she will lead you through the process better than I ever could. May you be blessed by her wisdom and prayers today, the way I have been blessed by them.
EVENT TONIGHT!
I hope you’ll join me THIS EVENING from 7:00-8:30EST for this event sponsored by the Stevenson School for Ministry! It’s not too late to sign up!
This workshop will explore the importance of hospitality in Christianity, name the current challenge our culture faces with alcohol, and talk through fun and thoughtful ways churches can grow in showing compassion toward those who don't drink. Churches growing in hospitality to sober people serves not just to change our churches for the better, but to grow them, as churches can become safe places for sober visitors and their friends.
