inspiration
“For Presence”
Awaken to the mystery of being here and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.
Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to follow its path.
Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.
May anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of soul.
Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention.
Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.
May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.—John O’Donohue, from To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings
reflection
I won’t be offering any content the week of Thanksgiving, and for the next 3 weeks I will be sharing blessings from John O’Donohue each week. I believe that, in so many ways, they speak for themselves — because he knew how to speak so beautifully about the condition of the soul.
Rather than spending too much time contemplating these blessings, I’d rather take on a posture of letting them wash over us.
So instead of a long reflection this month, I recommend we pick one line from the blessing each week, and that we let it be a companion to us until the new blessing arrives. This practice — I like to think of them as one line prayers — can be very powerful, similar to having affirmations.
My companion this week will be: Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
What one line prayer will be your companion this week? Feel free to share below!

Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to follow its path. I love this poem/prayer and the encouragement to take one line as a blessing - thank you!
