you have a special destiny here (erin jean warde)
"May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that you have a special destiny here, that behind the facade of your life there is something beautiful and eternal happening."
inspiration
“For Solitude”
May you recognize in your life the presence,
power, and light of your soul.
May you realize that you are never alone,
that your soul in its brightness and belonging
connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe.
May you have respect for your individuality and difference.
May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique,
that you have a special destiny here,
that behind the facade of your life
there is something beautiful and eternal happening.
May you learn to see your self
with the same delight, pride, and expectation
with which God sees you in every moment.—John O’Donohue, from To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings
reflection
I will be sharing blessings from from John O’Donohue each week, for the next two weeks of November, and for the month of December. I believe that, in so many ways, they speak for themselves — because he knew how to speak so beautifully about the condition of the soul.
Rather than spending too much time contemplating these blessings, I’d rather take on a posture of letting them wash over us. I hope this also offers a way to slow down a bit during the often rushed feeling of the holidays.
So for this series, I recommend we pick one line from the blessing each week, and that we let it be a companion to us until the new blessing arrives. This practice — I like to think of them as one line prayers — can be very powerful, similar to having affirmations.
My companion this week will be: you have a special destiny here.
